DONEGAL CELEBRATES VOLUNTEEERS: THE HEART OF RURAL BC
“In rural B.C., volunteerism isn’t just an act of service — it’s a way of life.” Volunteerism is more than giving back — it’s about building up.”
On April 29, 2025, MLA Donegal Wilson (Boundary-Similkameen) took a moment in the Legislature to celebrate something that defines rural communities: volunteerism. In Boundary-Similkameen and across rural B.C., volunteers aren’t just helpers — they’re first responders, organizers, caregivers, and community builders. They fill gaps where formal services are stretched thin and bring people together when it matters most. Donegal shared that across B.C., volunteers contribute more than 114 million hours each year — the equivalent of 60,000 full-time jobs.
