MLA Donegal Wilson Joins New Party, Commits to Building a Party Focused on British Columbians

MLA Donegal Wilson has announced that she will join the six other MLAs forming a new provincial party, bringing the group to seven seats in the British Columbia Legislature.
Wilson joins six other MLAs who are building the new provincial party: Peter Milobar, MLA for Kamloops Centre; Ian Paton, MLA for Delta South; Rosalyn Bird, MLA for Prince George-Valemount; Bruce Banman, MLA for Abbotsford South; Á’a:líya Warbus, MLA for Chilliwack-Cultus Lake; and Teresa Wat, MLA for Richmond-Bridgeport.
Milobar is currently serving as interim leader as the new party continues to organize ahead of the Legislature returning in October.

MLA Donegal Wilson Joins New Party, Commits to Building a Party Focused on British Columbians
The new provincial party now holds 7 seats in the BC Legislature
KEREMEOS, B.C. — Donegal Wilson, MLA for Boundary-Similkameen, announced today that she will join the six other MLAs forming a new provincial party.
“When I left the BC Conservative caucus, I left because I could no longer support the leadership of Kerry-Lynne Findlay. I said then that I was leaving a caucus, not my principles, and that has not changed. I did not intend to join another party, but what has become clear is that this new party is a group of people who are willing to put in the work and deliver on what British Columbians need in 2026.”
Wilson said her decision came after meeting with the Independent MLAs involved in forming the new party and seeing their willingness to have difficult conversations about what the party should stand for and how it should operate.
“I am not interested in rebuilding an old, failed party. British Columbia has changed. We are working to understand what worked, be honest about what did not, and build for the British Columbia we want to have in the future. The new party has made significant strides in a matter of weeks and I am so thrilled to join this team and help build a credible alternative to the NDP that British Columbians can choose in the next election, whenever that may be.”
“My responsibility remains first and foremost to the people of Boundary-Similkameen. I am joining this team because I know that we are building a practical, fiscally responsible party that listens, is willing to make difficult decisions and measures success by what it actually delivers for British Columbians.”
